I think I have successful working habits because I am always motivated to complete my work on time and make it the best of my ability with a lot of details, shadows, and highlights
A goal I have for next quarter is that I want to spend more time on my sketchbook drawings and make them more detailed
An area of success about my art skills is that I think I have widened my knowledge about shadows and highlights. This year I have worked a lot with shadows and highlights and I think my skills in that area have grown immensely
A goal for developing my art skills next year is that I would like to experiment more with media I am not comfortable with such as pastels or acrylic paints

Develop Craft: I used different materials for the type of artwork I was creating. If I was creating something that had a lot of shadows and highlights, I would choose a charcoal pencil because it is easy to blend and create shadows and highlights. I gained deeper understanding of what each material is best for, so that I would be able to chose the tools intentionally and apply them with care.
Envision: At the start of my artwork, I always invasion what I want my artwork to look like so I can create a plan for how I am going to make my artwork look the way I want it to. As I create my artwork, there are sometimes problems you run into, but you have to think about how you are going to fix it and develop it into the ideas you had.
Engage and Persist: When making art, you will most likely encounter issues, but when I run into a problem, like not being able to correctly draw a face, I try new methods and if I am not able to make it look exactly like the way I want it, I embrace my art making problems, and it allows my work to become more personal because it is not perfect.
Express: In my art, I like to create something that will connect with somebody for multiple different reasons. I want my art to create feelings of happiness when viewing it, and each person can interpret the idea or mood in their own way. I like adding color to my work to create a lighter mood, but I also enjoy using just black and white and creating amazing shadows and highlights.
Observe: I constantly observe my subject matter so that I am able to notice all of the details in the subject that may be hard to see when just looking at it. I strongly focus on where the shadows and highlights are in my subject matter because shadows and highlights are what make you artwork come together and look 3-D.
Reflect: I love asking people to judge my work because they can suggest ideas to make my work look more complete. I often reflect and judge my own work and think about what I could add to make my work even better. I am usually satisfied by the shadows and highlights I create in my art, but I struggle with the background and what to do in the background to make my art come together.
Stretch and Explore: I took risks in my artwork by using new materials that I wasn't familiar with such as acrylic paint or using just colored pencils to create shadows and highlights with colors. I experimented with different techniques and media, while also stayed with what I am most comfortable with such as charcoal pencils.
Understand the World: One thing I enjoyed this semester was that we got to go to the art museum where we interacted with an artist's work and were able to learn about history and broaden our art knowledge. Interacting with other artists such as famous artists or even classmates helps you discover new aspects of artwork that you may have missed before.
